So, as we all know- I am a chronic over-packer. I need to join an OP’s anonymous group.

It is what it is, folks. I’m probably too old to change my ways now. It’s high time I accepted that it’s who I am and move on with it.

How did google find this picture of me?? HA!

Since I know that I am not the only person in the world who packs 29 pairs of underoos “just in case,” I thought I would give you part dos of the Overpacking Chronicles… the vacation version.

Hawaii is the beloved fam’s idea this year. We’ve gone before, it’s just been a while. Last time, I jotted down some notes of things I realized I needed when I got there, but somehow forgot to pack in my 98 pounds of luggage. (That’s no exaggeration folks… I had two bags totaling 98 pounds)

I will first list off the things I packed (or am in the process of packing) and THEN I will show you the list I made of things I missed. It’s not as cool as it sounds- promise. It’s simply the things you don’t think you need until you get there and realize how you totally needed them and you should’ve trusted the little over-packing voice in your head!!

Essentials for a one-weeker:

  • 4-8 Dresses (personally, I live for them)
  • 2-3 pairs of shorts
  • 2-3 generic tank tops
  • 1-2 pairs of pants (linen or cotton)
  • 1-2 cover shirts (for over the dresses if it’s cool)
  • 2-3 pairs of sandals
  • Workout clothes/shoes
  • 2-3 floppy/fedora hats (if you’re the hat type- I am)
  • Beach bag
  • 2-4 bathing suits
  • Bathing suit cover ups (which sort-of double as casual day dresses too)
  • Sunglasses (duh!)
  • At least one really nice dress or nice outfit
  • One pair of dressy wedges
  • Bras/panties/jammies as needed
  • All my beloved electronic devices (Camera, iPod, iPad, Kindle, what-have-you)

  • Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen!
  • Pure 100% aloe vera gel
  • 13 different lip balms {with and without SPF} (I’m a little obsessed)
  • Hair spray (I was surprised how much I used mine)
  • My regular routine of cleansing, moisturizing, etc.
  • Clarisonic (this is a personal thing, but for me it’s a must)
  • Deodorant (kind of a given, don’t think I even needed to list it)
  • Smelly good sprays/perfume

This is the actual sunscreen I use

The Missed List:

  • Beachy hair products (I have long wavy hair, and i’m lazy on vacay!)
  • Clearing face mask to rid yourself of the 14 layers of sunscreen gooping up your pores
  • Small pumice stone (Your feet are always exposed! Mine dried out badly too)
  • After sun balm/lotion (Because let’s face it, even lubing up on sunscreen you’re bound to miss a spot)
  • Makeup with SPF built in (I have a SPF 50 powder to touch up with)
  • Specific snacks that I want (I’m a sugar-less person and don’t do processed crap foods, and finding my beloved treats like Pro Bars or raw nuts are harder to find)
  • A snorkel mask/cheapie goggles (yes, I could have rented one, but I wanted to have it more than once and it’s like $3 at Wal-mart- why rent for $15 for an hour?!)
